Martin “X” Bell

VFX Art Director, Filmmaker, and Visualisation Supervisor

Martin “X” Bell is a British VFX Art Director, filmmaker, and visualisation supervisor known for his work on Deadpool & Wolverine, Jurassic World, Fast & Furious, James Bond, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and 1917.

After earning a degree in Visualisation from Teesside University in 2006, Bell began his career as an animator in London before transitioning to film visualisation, where he quickly rose to supervisor level. His innovative approach to cinematic previsualization has made him a trusted collaborator for major studios and directors across the Marvel, DC, and Universal franchises.

Nicknamed “X” by Marvel Studios during production on Deadpool & Wolverine—after an email mix-up and as a playful nod to the X-Men universe—Bell adopted the moniker professionally.

In 2022–23, his Unreal Engine–created short film Prazinburk Ridge earned multiple festival awards for its cinematic storytelling and emotional depth.

He is currently attached to direct an animated feature based on a classic children’s book in a UK–USA co-production, and is set to make his live-action feature debut in 2026 with a World War I horror film.
