Dr. Fahamu Pecou is an internationally acclaimed interdisciplinary artist and scholar whose work explores the intersections of hip-hop, fine art, and popular culture. His creative and academic practice critically examines contemporary representations of Black men, challenging conventional narratives surrounding Black masculinity and identity. Through a fusion of painting, performance, and theoretical research, Dr. Pecou expands how Blackness is read, performed, and expressed in modern society.

He has been honored as a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture for his outstanding contributions to the arts. His work is included in major national and international collections such as the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, Museum Moderner Kunst (MUMOK) in Vienna, Nasher Museum at Duke University, High Museum of Art, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, among others.

Dr. Pecou is also the Founder and Executive Director of the African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA), an institution dedicated to centering and celebrating the global narratives of African-descended peoples.
