Wambui Kairo
Producer; Founder of One Boy Productions (Production Services & Fixer Company)Wambui K is a seasoned Kenyan film and television producer with over 20 years of experience across both local and international productions. Her impressive portfolio includes critically acclaimed feature films such as The Constant Gardener, The White Maasai, and Nowhere in Africa, as well as popular TV series like MTV’s Shuga (Season 1) and M-Net’s Changes (Season 3). She has also produced and managed numerous documentaries and television commercials throughout her career.
Beginning her journey in the industry through a range of freelance production management roles, Wambui honed her craft on set, gaining deep operational and creative insight into film production. This extensive experience eventually led her to establish her own company, One Boy Productions, in 2008 — a Nairobi-based production services firm offering fixer support, logistics, and crew coordination for regional and international clients.
Beyond production, Wambui has played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s film industry through leadership and policy work. She has served in various capacities with the Kenya Film and Television Professionals Association (KFTPA) since 2012 and chaired the Oscars Selection Committee Kenya (OSCK) from 2012 to 2019, overseeing the submission of Kenyan films to the Academy Awards for the Best International Feature Film category.
Her influence also extends to policy development, having contributed to the Kenya Film Policy and Bill (2016–2017) and to UNESCO’s 2021 African Film Industry Report, which provided a comprehensive overview of Africa’s film ecosystem.
Recognized for her leadership, experience, and passion for storytelling, Wambui continues to champion Kenya’s creative industry, empowering filmmakers, building international collaborations, and showcasing authentic African stories to the world.
