Addison Henderson’s remarkable journey into the world of professional filmmaking began with
the deeply moving documentary, The Forgotten City. This powerful Buffalo story, born from
profound tragedy, offered a searing exploration of critical societal issues including race relations,
segregation, crime, and politics. The feature film quickly garnered significant acclaim, receiving
multiple prestigious awards, notably the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award from the
Buffalo Niagara Film Festival. Its impact extended further through a distribution deal with Free
Speech TV, allowing its vital message to reach a broader audience.
Following the success of The Forgotten City, Henderson embarked on his second documentary
feature, The Experience. This intimate and deeply personal film chronicled the pilgrimage of five
individuals to Ghana, Africa, as they sought to uncover their personal histories and reclaim
identities buried by the devastating legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The film offered a
poignant and powerful exploration of heritage, healing, and self-discovery.
In recent times, Henderson has expanded his artistic endeavors, writing, directing, and starring
in the prescient Showtime Network apocalyptic thriller, Givers of Death (G.O.D.). The film
premiered to considerable buzz at the American Black Film Festival, where it secured multiple
nominations and ultimately won the coveted Best Screenplay award, highlighting Henderson's
versatile talents. Beyond his own projects, Henderson also had the profound privilege of
collaborating closely with the extraordinary Chadwick Boseman on some of the highest-grossing
films of all time, including the iconic Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame. Working alongside
